Why Go Smart & Where to Start?
Navigating the New Normal of Resident Screening
Presented by Alison Young & Amber Taylor
To the right of the stage!
4:40 - 5:00 PM
Do you know HUD's newest guidelines on screenings? Does your staff? What about fraud? If not, your wallet will soon.
Resident Screening and surrounding practices have been a hot topic since HUD announced the disparate impact recommendations in 2016. Resident screening is no longer, a “set it and forget it” policy in housing. And with the significant increase of fraud, gone are the days of relying solely on the results of a background check. You may be required to meet specific obligations down to the county level requirements and consider various conditions for approval, fraud detection and adverse action. Join us as we discuss trending pitfalls and proactive measures that assist in mitigating company risks and reputation and review HUD’s newest guidance released in May 2024.
